Intensive Outpatient Program  Northern Virginia

Hero Banner

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a level of care for people struggling with substance abuse, addiction and/or mental health issues. Intensive Outpatient treatment is recommended for individuals with mild-to-moderate symptoms who can manage their own schedules along with family, school and/or employment obligations.

At Aquila Recovery of Virginia, our goal is to provide exceptional IOP treatment for both addiction and mental health issues. Our Intensive Outpatient Program is for clients who need more structure than traditional outpatient therapy and less structure than an inpatient treatment program. Unlike a residential program, an IOP meets for 3 hours a day, 3 times a week for 6-8 weeks.

Our program is evidence-based, which means we utilize treatment components which research has shown to be most effective. Each week, participants will engage in:

  • Group therapy - comprised of group psychotherapy and group psycho-education. Our groups are facilitated by licensed, master level clinicians and licensed substance abuse counselors. If you have an established doctor or therapist, we will work closely with them through the course of your treatment.

  • Individual therapy - Consisting of personal therapy, case management sessions, breathalyzer checkpoints and full spectrum drug testing for accountability.
We will work together and develop tools, establish support, and maintain recovery from substances, mental health issues, or problem behaviors.
