Reaching the Insured

Aquila Recovery strives to serve individuals in difficulty with drugs and alcohol while they still have private health insurance and while they still have positive life supports – such as job, family, home, and personal networks.

Statistics show that most people with substance use disorders (over 75%) are employed. Most of these workers have traditional healthcare insurance, including coverage for addiction risk and treatment. But because our health system traditionally has downplayed recognition of addiction issues, these people remain ill and untreated until their disease is greatly advanced.

Most people with difficulty begin treatment after they lose their jobs, supports and insurance. As a result, taxpayers fund more than 80% of America’s addiction treatment.

Today, most insurers and employers have a more positive view. They know that untreated addiction drives much higher claims for heart attacks, diabetes and many other major and expensive illnesses.

Working together with primary care providers, as well as Employee Assistance Programs, Aquila Recovery offers care at any stage of addiction health, reaching people while they still have jobs, family connections, and healthcare insurance. We call this new evidence-based approach to addiction health Hope, Help and Healing.
