Substance Abuse Counselor (Herndon, VA)

Aquila Recovery of Virginia is searching for an onsite certified/licensed professional substance abuse counselor to provide evening treatment groups from to clients in our outpatient substance abuse treatment program.

We offer a small business environment with flexibility and support of our employees and clients. We are a group of team-spirited, passionate, empathetic, and detail-oriented therapists who evaluated and treat our client’s mental and physical health to provide support for addictions.

Primary Therapist
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Primary Therapist facilitates individual, family, and group therapies, conducts assessments and coordinates treatment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consistently carries a caseload as an Individual and/or Group Therapist, on an ongoing and temporary basis, dependent upon the needs of the program, to provide clinical coverage for short-term absences and long-term vacancies.

  • Facilities process-oriented, experiential, skills-based, and/or psychoeducation group therapies.

  • Completes clinical assessments within required timelines including risk, face to face and biopsychosocial assessments.

  • Completes treatment plan and reviews, integrating outcomes of self-administered assessments, in collaboration with the treatment team and accordance with established timelines.

  • Conduct crisis assessments and crisis intervention and management as needed.

  • Timely completion of documentation (assessments, treatment plans, progress and group notes, discharge summary) according to established standards. Completes case consults and peer reviews with payers to extend length of stay in treatment.

  • Attends weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision.

  • Maintains clear boundaries with clients. Sets limits and assists to manage clients when staff is in need of support.

  • Attends meetings, trainings and conferences representing Aquila Recovery of Virginia as needed.


Minimum Requirements:

The ideal candidate must have at least one of the following VA licenses/certifications:

CSAC, LPC, LCSW or Substance Abuse Certification.


Experience:

  • Behavioral health: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (Required)
  • LPC (Preferred)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a clinical specialization from a state approved graduate school.
  • Licensed in Marriage Family Therapy, Counseling, or Social Work in Virginia.
  • Willing to participate in other company required clinical and therapeutic modality trainings.


Hours: 12-20 hours per week

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $49,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year

Medical specialties: Addiction Medicine

Schedule: Monday to Friday
