The Audit-C is a screening tool developed by the World Health Organization.  This test has been validated in six countries. A high score suggests you look deeper into your substance use. Please discuss next step options with your physician or health professional. 
 
1. How often do you have a drink containing alcohol?

  • Never (0 points)
  • Monthly or less (1 point)
  • 2 to 4 times a month (2 points)
  • 2-3 times a week (3 points)
  • 4 or more times a week (4 points)

2. How many drinks containing alcohol do you have on a typical day of drinking?

  • 1 or 2 (0 points)
  • 3 or 4 (1 point)
  • 5 or 6 (2 points)
  • 7 to 9 (3 points)
  • 10 plus (4 points)

3. How often do you have five or more drinks on one occasion?

  • Never (0 points)
  • Less than monthly (1 point)
  • Monthly (2 points)
  • Weekly (3 points)
  • Daily or almost daily (4 points)

Audit-C score of 4+ for men, and 3+ for women and anyone over age 65 indicates a positive alcohol prescreen.
